Sacred Sex Book

Between sex as sin and sex as sport is an embrace of sexuality as a good gift. How will we make wise decisions about how we will and will not express our sexuality? It is time we develop a Sexual Ethic that frees us to love our bodies and to celebrate the joy of sexual intimacy.

This book doesn't just confront the distorted and unhealthy messages about sex often received in mainstream churches. It does that, but it also offers a positive and inclusive alternative view that affirms the beauty, joy, and holiness of sexuality. This, from a minister, in straight forward language and with good humor. Wonderful!

"When we have sex, all of who we are is on the line. Any attempt to divide the body and the spirit does violence to both."
A challenging topic but an easy read. Lee does a nice job articulating a moral and ethical approach to sexual relationships in or outside of marriage. Lee deconstructs some of our culture's popular but unhealthy attitudes about sex. Well researched and insightful. A much-needed resource for mental health professionals, spiritual advisers, parents, and/or anyone charged with guiding people through sexual choices and issues. Potentially cathartic to anyone who has suffered from their sexual experiences.

Regardless of what your religious beliefs may be Barbara’s book makes you think. We have certainly moved away from the idea that preaching abstinence works all the time and many are beyond the discussion of “Wait until you get married”, but where does that leave us? This short, sweet and to the point book opens up the opportunity for small groups, women’s circles and individuals alike to talk about what to talk about when it comes to sex outside of marriage.
"I wasn't sure what to expect from a book with this title. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. The message was so empowering to me personally. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or a controlling relationship. Marriage does not mean you forego your right to say 'not tonight'."

Thank you for writing a book on the subject and bringing attention to it! It's such a huge topic and one that needs to be addressed more and more. I grew up in the church and I have seen and experienced the harm that comes from the aversion the church has to this subject, and man, you really do hit the nail on the head in the right way. It's not aggressive or hostile like some people's approach, but demands a re-evaluation for the right reasons. Excellent! - Amanda
With wisdom and love as guide, this prophetic message has the power to save and transcend lives. Thank you for your courageous truth-telling. - Susan
You were amazing! Flawless presentation and great subject matter. I'm enjoying your newly released book "Sacred Sex" I hope others will find you to check it out themselves! Great TedX experience...very thought provoking. -Vonni
Well stated and thorough. I agree with everything. It is hard to teach our teenagers especially in light of the rampant casual sex among middle schoolers. It's hard to teach your child it is sacred when same aged peers don't agree and just give it away and treat sex as meaningless and un-special. -Christine
Thank you for putting these words in writing and assuring me that no matter what the union a woman has the right to say no. -Anonymous
